We are the family behind Mt Field Retreat, Waterfalls Cafe & Gallery and Van Diemen Designs
Since 2012 we knew we wanted to enhance the Mt Field experience. We grew our Gallery space to feature Tasmanian artists and creators. We grew our local team with a focus on training and growing together.
In 2023 we opened the first stage of our accommodation, Mt Field Retreat. In 2025 we added stage 2 which allows us to host boutique tours.
Van Diemen Designs has grown alongside these two businesses. The ability to design our own homewares and a passion to see a little piece of Tassie in every home.

The cafe is in the Mt Field visitor centre. Coffee, soup, scones and lunch, plus a gallery full of Tasmanian artists and makers we work with.

Scarves, cushions, tshirts, and the snuggliest knee rug you will ever own. Van Diemen Designs wants to see a little piece of Tassie in every home. The online shop is in the works, but if you can’t wait pieces can be purchased from Waterfalls Cafe & Gallery.
